Europe? Closer than it seems
Often Europe seems like a distant concept, something we perceive but that doesn’t really concern us. In reality, it’s exactly the opposite: Europe and everything that shapes, animates, and gives it meaning, that’s YOU!! Whether your profile is linguistics, translation, communication, international relations, law, or economics, there is space for you.
Every year thousands of students and young graduates participate in internships, traineeships, and projects promoted by institutions like the European Parliament, the European Commission, the European Solidarity Corps, Erasmus+, and many other organizations. Formative, international, and often paid experiences that allow you to gain skills, live multicultural environments, network, and give momentum to your professional path.
Why think about it already during university?
There are two fundamental reasons for doing so. The first is to enrich your perspective. Mobility and internship experiences abroad help to discover passions and inclinations. They put you in contact with new environments, different ways of working and living.
For example? An internship at the European Parliament can make you discover an interest in public policies. An Erasmus+ project in an association can open you to the world of international cooperation.
The second reason is that the selection times for calls are quite long and especially for beginners, it is important to prepare in advance: choosing programs, knowing the official portals, CVs, and motivation letters… In short, better to start calmly than to arrive breathless at the last minute.
Europe is also multilingualism
A topic that concerns us closely: languages are the heart of European institutions. Translators, interpreters, terminologists, language reviewers, and multilingual communicators are essential figures to make the EU work. And not only in Brussels: these are concrete opportunities for those who study translation, languages, and communication.
The Directorate-General for Translation (DGT) and the Joint Interpretation Service (SCIC) offer internships dedicated precisely to these profiles.
